Hey, what year did you guys graduate? I'm a young 'un, class of '99. Wondering if maybe I knew any of you or your friends, even though I was pretty much a recluse.

took me awhile to find this tribe...it's been too long since I've been at W&M to think of it as "the tribe" :-)

Re: what year?
Thu, April 22, 2004 - 6:30 AMGeez-nobody checks this tribe very often now, do they? Actually, I've only just started utilizing this whole Tribe thing...interesting, but not all that responsive for me so far.
I'm class of '78...tho I think I finally pulled myself away from the Green Leafe Cafe around '80. Yanked my stakes out of w'burg in '81 and hate to admit I've only been back twice since then.
Have a daughter that I'm trying to push towards W&M...she's not bending to my pressure, tho...smarter girl than i give her credit for sometimes, I suppose.
Hope we can get a dialogue going out here.

Re: what year?
Tue, May 4, 2004 - 10:58 AMI joined WM 1981, 7th Jan... I remember the day like it was yesterday. I was sooo excited and it was cold! I had just joined from the UK and it was unbelievable how much food was available in the caf, I was on the 18 meal plan or something. In the UK, food was in short supply... and in the Caf... u could even have seconds, thirds... etc. That was the biggest shocker for me when I joined. Then I went on to join the infamous Karate class run by Hamada.
Everyone who had joined his class were terriffied of him as he had a bad reputation of hurting the students. I had not heard of the reputation and so after his demonstration he stopped and asked if there were any questions... I raised my hand and asked if I could get advanced placement in his class (I thought I was a hot shot.) Everyone turned around to look at me in shock. He of course refused and proceeded into making an example of me in the next class.
I loved WM

Re: what year? BS 1979
Wed, August 31, 2005 - 11:14 PMI just joined this group - I graduated in 1979, BS in Computer Science (well, Math really, because there wasn't quite a CS department). I retain intense memories of sleeping on the floor in Jones Hall, waiting for the next round of output from the latest batch of card-punched programming jobs. Ooh, do I sound old, or what? Gather 'round, children, and I'll tell you all about how it was in OUR day.
Any other CS folk here?
Anyone in Kansas City?

Re: what year? BS 1979
Thu, September 1, 2005 - 9:21 AMman, do i remember that. i wasn't CS (bba, '78) but i did have to spend time waiting on those print outs for finance classes. i'd say 'those were the good ol days', but they weren't (except for the drugs, sex & rock & roll at the pub).
in GA here -

Re: what year? BS 1979
Fri, July 14, 2006 - 12:12 PMI am a CS graduate from WM too. I remember Jones as well and I think I was one of the last batches to use the card machine and those big monster printers that would automaticly open their hood when they ran out of paper spilling all the stacks of cards piled on top of them by waiting students... yep those were the days.

Re: what year?
Sun, June 27, 2004 - 3:54 AM'81 or '84 or '78... after 20 years, do few years here or there really make a difference? I am currently living in Lahore, Pakistan and developing real estate. Great business here except for the political turmoil (all turmoil is bad for business!) We just lost our Prime Minister today... woe is me.
